Pre-Newport Match
After a couple of wins the spirit within the dressing room is definitely a lot better than a week ago. We still have a lot of hard work to do and whilst some of our forward play on Saturday was better we were desperately dissapointed with the goals conceded. This is the responsibility of the whole team not just the defenders, and we can still work harder to close down and press the opposition. We have been pleased with the improved form in some of the players and are now trying to ensure we get the level of consistency from everyone.
Tomorrows game being mid week has thrown up a few problems with team selection as we have 2 or 3 players unavailable due to work commitments. We will certainly be travelling to Newport demanding a continued improvement in our performance and hopefully that will secure 3 more points.
Pre-Bashley Match
Firstly I would like to say thank you to all the support I have received since Andy's decision to resign. Andy and I will continue to work hard together in trying to bring a successful and attractive brand of football to CPF.
Mike Ford has had a great impact on the training pitch over the past week and the players have responded very well since the disappointment of last weekend.
I am please to announce we have signed Billy Beechers on a months loan from Oxford United who will come into the squad for tomorrow. Billy is an exciting talent and I am sure he will have a positive impact for us.
Aside from Lewis Craker who is suspended for tomorrow we are at full strngth. Justin
Lyner Resignation
My apologies for not communicating this week but i have been up North and have had no access to a PC.
On my return i have felt humbled by the level of support on this board and indeed by the messages from players and managers in the wider footballing fraternity. I have always tried to be honest with our supporters in my asssement of things and hopefully this posting is no different.
I felt that recently i have not performed to the high standards i have always set for myself and i believed that this was begining to affect the level of our performances (not results)
Without the the right amount of drive and enthusiasm you achieve nothing in football management.
Having come back to the City for a third time and fulfilled my ambition to manage the club, I did not want to take it backwards after the mementous move forward that we made last season. This along with other contributory factors led to my feeling that it was in the clubs best interest that i step aside.
Although i have thanked my players privately for their various contributions, i would like to put on record my thanks for their tremendous achievement in getting the club back on track. They are a great bunch of lads to work with.
Finally, thanks to our loyal supporters, many of whom have hardly missed a game home or way since i have been at the club.
